We have exciting opportunities for reliable Rail Car Repair Technician at our repair facility onsite. This opportunity is perfect for someone with experience looking for a stable position in an organization that offers advancement.
Job Summary:
Principal duties in this position are car repairs including but not limited to:
- Car repairs involving cutting and welding (SMAW) on the rail body, including tank and/or hopper, and other car components
- Air Arc Gouging
- Light and mediumduty mechanical repairs to rail cars
- Working at heights
- Read, comprehend, and follow repair orders, procedures & blue prints
- Operate telehandler forklift
- Adhere to health and safety standards, including Responsible Care Policy
- Primarily working outdoors
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
-
Valid driver's license required and reliable transportation to get to and from work
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong mechanical background with competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipment
- Must be able to read and understand written work orders, material safety data sheets, complete work writeups, and other paper and computer work
- Prior railcar repair experience or similar, and knowledge of AAR standards an asset
- Perform and document quality control checks as required by Company and regulatory quality standards
- Adhere to both customer site and Procor's health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe manner
- Must be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noise
- The ability to work while wearing respiratory protection
- WHMIS training, experience dealing with hazardous commodities
- Must be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, carry hand and power tools.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in conditions where there are loud noises and fumes
- Confined space entry to repair hopper car linings
- Detailoriented and committed to quality
- Excellent time management skills
- The ability to work independently or within a team
- Demonstrate a strong initiative and a positive proactive approach at all time
- All applicants are required to complete and pass our full medical testing upon hire.
