Location – Toronto, ON (4 Days onsite/ Week)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced GCP Cloud Architect with strong expertise in designing and implementing scalable data solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in building ETL workflows using Cloud Dataproc, Spark Serverless and Spark on GKE, along with proficiency in GCP-native services for data processing, monitoring, and governance.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect and Design Solutions:
Develop and implement cloud-native architectures on GCP for data processing and analytics.
Design ETL workflows leveraging Spark Serverless and Spark on GKE for large-scale data pipelines.
Data Management and Analytics:
Optimize data storage and querying using BigQuery and CloudSQL.
Ensure robust data governance, quality, and lineage across all data platforms.
Monitoring and Logging:
Implement GCP-based logging and monitoring solutions using tools like Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, and Stackdriver.
Establish alerting and observability practices for data workflows and infrastructure.
Security and Compliance:
Enforce best practices for data security, compliance, and governance within GCP environments.
Collaboration and Leadership:
Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on GCP best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform architecture and services.
Experience working with Cloud Dataproc clusters, running Spark and Hive jobs on Dataproc, performance tuning of Dataproc clusters, etc.
Hands-on experience with Spark Serverless and Spark on GKE for ETL workflows.
Proficiency in BigQuery, CloudSQL, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and GCP-native data services.
Data Governance and Quality:
Knowledge of frameworks and tools for data governance, data quality, and data lineage in GCP.
Monitoring and Logging:
Experience implementing Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, and related observability tools.
Other Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification.
Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with data security and compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
