    Description

    The City of Abbotsford's Operations Department is seeking an experienced professional to join their dynamic team as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II at the J.A.M.E.S Plant.

    In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will be responsible for the technical and skilled work pertaining to the operations and maintenance of the J.A.M.E.S Wastewater Treatment Plant while assisting your team in the overall achievement of efficient operation of the wastewater treatment facility. As part of your role you will operate and monitor all equipment throughout the plant while maintaining accurate operational and maintenance data in station and equipment logbooks. Additional responsibilities include preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, data analysis and training of junior staff.

    To be successful in this position you will have thorough knowledge of secondary wastewater treatment, chlorination and dechlorination principles and practices, wastewater analysis procedures and the ability to interpret laboratory data and test results for efficient plant operations. Your technical skill and your ability to work effectively in a team or independently will make you an asset to the team.

    To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • B.C. Environmental Operators Certification Program, Wastewater Treatment Class II Certification
  • B.C. Environmental Operators Certification Program Chlorine Handler Certificate
  • A minimum of three years' experience in the operations and maintenance of a secondary wastewater treatment facility
  • Occupational First Aid Level I, and the ability to obtain Level II certificate within six months as required
  • Class 5 Driver's Licence, with the ability to obtain a Class 3 Driver's Licence.
  • Qualified candidates will be asked to submit a satisfactory Driver's Abstract.

    This position is unionized, CUPE Local , and the hourly rate of pay is from $32.99 to $38.79 per hour. In addition, the City of Abbotsford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
