    Description

    Located on the Trent-Severn Waterway in the heart of the Kawartha tourism region, Peterborough is a unique community known for its exceptional quality of life and beautiful setting.

    To coordinate, oversee and implement all aspects of the delivery of services for the preservation of heritage resources, including permitting, designation, and financial incentive programs.

    Research and prepare staff reports and documents, including designation briefs and by-laws, relating to the preservation and management of heritage resources in the municipality for committees and Council.

    Oversee the planning and delivery of heritage special events by supervising and directing the work of temporary staff positions annually.

    Participates in meetings to exchange information and provide comments on development proposals, policies under review, and other planning and heritage issues.

    Knowledge and experience normally associated with a university degree in History, Art History, Architectural History, Anthropology or related field and one year of post graduate work in a related field.

    Must have proven research ability, and the ability to interpret and apply legislation and municipal policies on routine and non-routine heritage matters; Requires experience in the use of mapping software and property data management system including ESRI, ArcGIS, Questica and AMANDA software.
