PROJECT MANAGER,
STRUCTURAL STEEL

DAY IN THE LIFE

  • The PM develops and maintains relationships with internal and external customers to ensure efficient coordination of job execution and the ability to generate future work. They are the main point of contact for the client.
  • Receives project handover information from estimating, compiles and maintains detailed records of all dates, drawings, documents and correspondence (both written and verbal) related to projects.
  • Leads project team, identifies critical path items, and manages around the long lead material procurement. Oversees project kickoff and progress meetings.
  • Works with client representatives through all stages of the project including engineering, drafting, construction, and contracts.
  • Evaluates, selects, commissions, and manages suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Establishes project communication plan and conducts regular status reviews with the project team, internal and external clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Manages project Change Management; identifies changes to scope, impact to cost and schedule, and obtains customer approval.
  • Ensures projects are completed on time, on budget, and according to customer expectations. Exceeding requirements when possible.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years' project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles. PMP designation is considered an asset.
  • Strong ability to identify priorities and critical path activities
  • Engineering Technology Diploma or related technical diploma is considered an asset. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and enthusiastically.
  • Superior customer service skills with the ability to deliver results according to client specifications.
  • Able to work effectively with team members and yet be independent and selfreliant when completing tasks.
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to thrive well in a deadlineoriented environment.
  • Selfmotivated and demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project)
  • Previous experience in the metal building and steel fabrication environment is considered an asset
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
