Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Payroll Specialist will be joining a team of highly skilled, collaborative, and enthusiastic Finance professionals.

We are looking for an experienced payroll professional with a keen eye for detail, critical thinking skills and the ability to multi-task efficiently.

You should also be trustworthy and an excellent communicator.


Responsibilities

  • Enter, process, and balance the biweekly payroll earnings and adjustments for global organization across multiple countries (Canada, USA, Australia, United Kingdom).
  • Coordinate with HR to validate new hire setup in payroll, various changes, and termination calculations.
  • Provide timely responses from inquiries from Finance, HR, leadership, and employees.
  • Manage and reconcile all payroll related tax remittances and workers compensation across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Reconcile payroll General Ledger accounts following each biweekly payroll.
  • Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) and respond to wage verifications and unemployment claims.
  • Complete various monthly, quarterend and yearend requirements including T4s, W2s, T2200's and various other reconciliations, accruals, and reports.
  • Reconcile 401K and RRSP contributions.
  • Review current processes and recommend improvements.
  • Stay current with and advise on payroll legislation changes.
  • Assist with special projects as required.

Requirements:


  • College Diploma with a focus in accounting or finance and minimum 5 years' payroll experience
  • Certified as or working towards certification as Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or similar designation strongly preferred.
  • Multinational payroll experience preferred.
  • Experience working with UKG HRIS, and payroll systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Sage 300 considered an asset.
  • Experience with researching and settingup payrolls in new jurisdictions considered an asset.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to solve problems.
