Human Resources Manager (Onsite Maternity Leave Coverage), OES Inc.

Full Time Position

Terms of Employment:
Full Time, Contract. The duration of this contract will be May 2023 until May 2024 to cover a Maternity Leave. It can be extended based on business requirements.


Opportunity


The Human Resources Manager will support the initiatives set by the CEO, helping to execute on key initiatives as a part of the consolidated OES Human Resources ("HR") platform and strategy.

This role will focus on delivering internal HR services and providing day-to-day HR support and will act as the first point of contact in employee relations.

The role will focus on primary HR functions, including recruitment, selection and onboarding, employee relations, compensation, and benefits, learning and development, and corporate culture.


Summary of Major Accountabilities
Recruitment, selection, and onboarding

  • Assisting with building out onboarding plans, helping new hires to orient themselves within the organization, and navigate the company's HR policies and procedures.
Employee relations

  • Assist in administering and collecting employee satisfaction and engagement surveys and collecting verbal feedback.
  • Deliver strategies outlined by the director to promote employee engagement.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee relation matters, such as conflicts, labor disputes, etc.
  • Facilitate communication between parties in conflict.
  • Assist in developing and implementing solutions.
  • Oversee the execution of and oversee the results of the annual employee engagement survey.
  • Makes recommendations to CEO and senior leadership team regarding local labour laws and legislative updates.
Compensation and benefits

  • Assist with payroll and maintain documents related to payroll, benefits, and other incentive programs in a confidential environment.
  • Oversee compilation of employees' hours and manager approvals in DC Mobile
  • Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, benefits coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department transfers.
  • Assist with balancing the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain employees' various balances i.e. vacation, sick time, etc.
  • Provide related reports and/or information to employees and senior management upon request.
  • Communicate updates relating to payroll, benefits, and other incentives to employees.
  • Maintain internal database of job descriptions and compensation for employees.
  • Support the CEO by assisting with data collection and measurement to assist in compensation reviews.
  • Ensure adoption of standardized performance reviews and feedback loops, grading structures, progress tools, etc.
  • Implement recognition practices and rewards.
Learning and development

  • Arrange any training requirements in HR Downloads
  • Work with Manager to ensure skills/training certifications are up to date in HRIS system.
  • Linking performance and learning initiatives
  • Work with managers and ELT to develop and document learning plans for employees.
  • Help employees register for OES approved courses.
  • Work with management personnel to develop and enhance managerial skills.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Education:


  • A degree or diploma in human resources or a related discipline
  • CHRP is considered an asset.

Experience:


  • 35 years Management level HR experience preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment

Other:


  • Superior interpersonal, relationship, and communication skills
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Professional demeanor and positive work attitude, even in the face of difficult situations
