What we do
The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) is an independent, quasi-judicial agency of the province of Alberta.
The AUC is responsible for ensuring that the delivery of Alberta's utility service takes place in a manner that is fair, responsible and in the public interest.
We regulate investor-owned natural gas, electric and water utilities and certain municipally owned electric utilities to ensure that customers receive safe and reliable service at just and reasonable rates.
The AUC also provides regulatory oversight of issues related to the development and operation of the wholesale electricity market in Alberta as well as the retail gas and electricity markets in the province.
With your creative touch, curious mind, and keen interest in internal and external communications and marketing, you will provide support to the External Affairs and Communications group while gaining hands-on experience working in a regulatory environment.
You will work on a variety of initiatives and projects, primarily in the areas of internal and external communications, graphic design and media relations.
This position will ideally run from May-August 2024.Key responsibilities
- Write, edit and proofread announcements, articles and web pages.
- Create, review and proofread documents, plans and schedules ensuring adherence to the _Canadian Press Stylebook_.
- Upload daily postings on the internal and external websites.
- Design various graphic web
- Review content and design of material to ensure accuracy and clear messaging to the target audience.
- Assist in determining the most effective communication channel, or technology, for specific internal and external communication.
- Plan, coordinate and schedule events and prepare any necessary supporting materials.
- Schedule and maintain internal and external calendars, as well as YouTube live stream videos for AUC hearings and meetings.
- Prepare and administer surveys using SurveyMonkey and build web forms.
- Consistently demonstrate and promote the AUC's values.
Qualifications
Enrolled in a bachelor's degree related to communications, public relations or media studies with at least two years of study completed.
