Reporting to the Safety Manager, the OCS Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for providing support to the management team, supervisors, foremen and workers.

This position will provide leadership and coordination of the day-to-day health and safety requirements.

What You'll Do Here:

Conduct Sitespecific safety orientation to workers, owners and clients.
Training supervisors and staff on the Site Safety Plan.
Training employees in WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response, confined space and fall protection.
Coordinate training such as WHMIS, First Aid, etc.
Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
Conduct behavioural observations in the workplace.
Update Safety Data Sheets as required.
Develop workplace plans such as emergency evacuations, fire emergencies, fall protection.
Distribution of safety material, supplies and equipment.
Safety presentations to clients.
Conduct weekly tool box talks.
Participate as a management member of Joint Health and Safety Committees.
Conduct studies and analyze accident trends.
Inspects project facilities and recommends corrective actions.
Coordinate activities of sitesafety coordinators.
Working with the Claims Administrator assists with workers compensation claims and associated activities.
Develop return to work and modified work programs.
Accident/Incident investigations.
Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.
Liaise with Government agencies.
Prepare and assist with external safety audits.
Coordination of environmental issues.
Gather and provide statistical information to estimating for tender packages.

What You Bring to the Team:

Minimum 3 years' experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.
At least ten years of OCS construction and or maintenance experience.
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong knowledge of required provincial Regulations.
Selfmotivated with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work accurately under pressure.
Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive.
Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
Ability to work with others as a team.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid Ontario (G) Driver's license.
Familiarity with working on live Metrolinx tracks.
