    Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Business and IT, the Sessional Lecturer provides instruction to undergraduate students in BUSI 2000U – Collaborative Leadership.

    The current schedule is:

    Mondays 9:00am – 12:00pm

    AND

    Wednesdays 9:00am – 12:00pm(This schedule is subject to changes)

    Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

    The primary responsibility of the applicant is to (develop and) teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level within the parameters of the course description listed above. In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, the Sessional Lecturer will deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments. The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session.

    This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.

    Qualifications:

    In addition to the Required Education, Required Skills, and Required Experience set out below, the successful candidate will have a proven aptitude for teaching at the undergraduate level, with demonstrated potential for making excellent contributions to teaching.

    Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently, and will be for the duration of the contract, legally eligible to work in Canada.

    This course will be delivered in-person at Ontario Tech University's North Campus in Oshawa, Ontario.

    Required Education:

    The successful applicant must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  • A Masters degree in Business Administration or Management or Human Resource Management; OR
  • A PhD or PhD (ABD) in Business Administration, with a focus on OB/HR, Leadership, Strategy, or Management.
  • Holding an HRPA designation (CHRP, CHRL, or CHRE) will be considered an advantage.

    Required Skills:

    The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to respond to student enquiries and to grade assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • High level of comfort with interacting with students and colleagues using online modalities such as Google Meets and Kaltura.
  • Ability to manage a course effectively using a Learning Management System.
  • An ability to develop innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • An ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural and diverse community.
  • Required Experience

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated teaching excellence in a commerce or business management/administration program in a post-secondary environment. Candidates can demonstrate their competence by submitting course evaluations and/or formal peer evaluations.
