Description
Dragados Canada, Inc., the Canadian construction arm of the ACS Group (one of the world's largest international construction and engineering companies), is seeking a talented and experienced Estimator to join its dynamic and energetic team.
Dragados Canada was established in 2008 and has grown steadily into an industry-leader in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, successfully performing a variety of large-scale transportation, bridge, dam, tunnel, and other major infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Review Requests for Proposals (RFP), addenda, and all other contractual documents
- Prepare and participate in meetings with clients, joint venture partners and consultants
- Prepare work breakdown structures, quantity takeoffs, and requests for quotes
- Identify local subcontractors and suppliers, solicit quotes and prepare comparison sheets
- Participate in the preliminary and final cost estimates
- Analyze, identify and evaluate project opportunities and risks and mitigation strategies
- Responsible for maintaining large working files as supporting documentation for estimating figures including current, accurate information on process for vendors through exclusive contact, marketing material, preexisting price list etc.
- Reflect on project learnings and experience to improve and promote lessons learned to the other office staff
- Perform all other related task that will help complete the project
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other related discipline
- Minimum 47 years of experience in heavy civil
- Previous experience working for a contractor in major infrastructure projects
- Experience in P3 procurement processes is an asset
- Good knowledge of local trades and subcontractors
- Previous experience with quantity takeoff and estimating experience using Heavy Bid, Timberline, Chief Estimator or MC2 software will be considered an asset
- Good knowledge of contracts, codes, industry practices, and key trade contractors
- Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word
- Knowledge of French language will be considered an asset
- Ability to work with deadlines and in a team environment
- Proven ability to create and maintain effective relationships with clients, vendors, subcontracts, architects, designers, field superintendents and staff
- Good initiative, attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
