Gifted People Services is a registered non-profit organization that provides training, support, resources, therapy, and respite services to families with individuals with special needs, including Children, Youth, Adults and seniors.

We empower these families with knowledge and advocacy skills, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest.


We're looking for a
Marketing and Event Manager who can in charge of our organization's promotion, PR, and events throughout the year.

You'll fill several functions across the organization to source, plan, and execute live events and fundraising activities.

The position offers a nice balance of office and field work, as well as flexible hours depending on the upcoming events.


The Role:

Internal Communications_

  • Supervise marketing team members and collaborate with Marketing Coordinator and event coordinator.
  • Work in partnership with the Executive Director to develop internal communications approaches intended to inform and elevate organizational culture and employee engagement.
  • Support Executive Director in various areas linked to communications, including but not limited to the development of corporate messaging, presentation development, press releases, speeches, and so forth.

Brand Management_

  • Work alongside all departments to ensure brand adherence in all marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Train and manage members of staff and thirdparty agencies on brand guidelines and policies, ensuring consistent deliverables are produced across all organizational channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with thirdparty agencies and key stakeholders, partners.
  • Continuously measuring brand awareness levels, community response, engagement, etc.

Media Relations_

  • Compose and disseminate press releases on behalf of G.P.S. and act as a spokesperson in response to media inquiries, as required and in collaboration with the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.
  • Respond to media queries, including liaising with staff to develop responses.
  • Develop relationships with various media channels, including social media, print, and broadcast.
  • Assists in the preparation of marketing materials, which include promotional brochures, press releases and newsletters;

Strategy and Budget Development/Planning_

  • Develop an annual marketing plan and digital media strategy communicating the brand in a responsible and authentic
  • Organizes, conducts, and manages events, parties and activities
  • Analyzes client needs and makes recommendations on event logistics and options
  • Resolves problems, issues, conflicts that may occur during events
  • Collaborates with team members and volunteers to ensure the success of the events
  • Works on cost estimates and conduct the events within budget

Requirements That Are Important to Us:

  • At least five years experience in marketing or organizing events in non-profits
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, communications or Liberal Arts/English; or related
  • Comfortable using and learning new technologies, specifically webbased ones;
  • Excellent writing and communicational skills;
  • Strong proofreading and grammar skills;
  • Fluent with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms;
  • Recent university graduate, preferably with a background in
  • Creativity and team player attitude is a must;
  • Ability to work individually and selfmotivated;
  • Well built skills in organization, prioritization and time management.
