Your Job Summary:

Global Relay is looking for a Data Center Manager to join our growing infrastructure team.

You will manage the data center facility infrastructure for all Global Relay data centers and be responsible for the planning, integration, deployment, and maintenance of all the supporting systems associated with Global Relay's data centers.

You will be responsible for capacity management and ensure that all space, power, and mechanical requirements keep pace with Global Relay's ever increasing needs while maximizing uptime.

This includes the hiring, mentoring, and management of your team ensuring minimum disruption to services. You also work closely and collaboratively with other teams in an effort to deliver industry-leading services for our customers.


Duties and responsibilities:


  • Provide daytoday operational oversight of data center Building Management Systems (BMS) including supervising technicians across all shifts in a 24x7 environment.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee contractors performing emergency and scheduled maintenance on data center equipment.
  • Maintain 100% uptime objective of Global Relay services.
  • Maintain a high standard of data center cleanliness and organization through operational discipline.
  • Ensure adherence to strict protocols, processes, and quality control standards for all work performed by the team.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure data center needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Recommend changes in procedures or equipment that would increase productivity, reduce cost, and better serve Global Relay's disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Document every method of procedure and ensure that they are clear and can be followed
  • Ensure every task is tracked and certifiable in an audit
  • Foster an environment of knowledge sharing and ensure comprehensive cross training

Qualifications:


  • 10+ years of experience working in a large scale Data Center.
  • 5+ years managing a large scale Data Center.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with high voltage and complex electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with modern data center mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with security and monitoring systems.
  • Experience collecting, maintaining and presenting documentation to auditors for many different audit types, SOC2, ISO, etc.
  • Experience cabling and racking servers, storage, and network equipment.
  • Experience supporting a global 24x7 internet based service or product.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Excellent customer presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently as needed.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to be highly confidential and discrete.
  • Previous experience working in an environment with formally structured change management.
  • Understanding of firewall and network architectures would be considered an asset

Working conditions:


Must be available after hours and / or weekends for emergency related work, service impacting incident resolution, or maintenance that is required during maintenance windows (outside of regular business hours).


Physical requirements:

Must be able to work with heavy equipment.
