Bioethicist
Quality Management

Reporting to the Director Quality & Risk Management, the Bioethicist, in collaboration with Administration and clinical staff, and in contact with patients, students, clients and the public, will provide leadership, teaching, research support, and expert advice on ethical issues to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) and St.

Joseph's Care Group (SJCG).

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

Doctoral or Masters Degree in a field relevant to bioethics (PhD preferred).
Two years of experience in working with clinical and organizational ethical issues as a member of an ethics consultation service, either in a team or lone practitioner setting.
Knowledge and experience in conducting clinical and organizational ethics consultations.
Experience in teaching bioethics to clinicians and/or University level bioethics.
Demonstrated ability to assist staff, faculty, students, patients, and the public in negotiating ethical decision making.
Experience in ethical analysis, conflict management, meeting facilitation, problem solving, tact, diplomacy, and time management.

Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of ethical principles, forms of moral reasoning, relevant issues in medical ethics especially clinical ethics, and the management of high intensity interpersonal conflict.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to form and maintain healthy positive interdisciplinary relationships.
Demonstrated computer skills using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and relevant online meeting platforms.>br>

Assets:

Completion of a formal practice based training program (e.g., fellowship) in clinical and organizational ethics
Tri Council Policy Statement 2 (TCPS2) certificate

Salary Range:
$46.637 to 54.867
