The Opportunity:
This is a temporary position - Ending September 1, 2024
As a Lab Analyst you will:
- Prepare clients samples and quality control (QC) samples for routine analysis using plating and qPCR techniques.
- Maintain QC records and perform quality review of data to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the results.
- Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) system to record and document results during the processing of samples.
- Follow SOPs to ensure quality control criteria are met and maintain all documentation that are required for compliance.
- Maintain a positive work environment for lab staff. Support and comply with all Valens policies, Quality System and Health & Safety programs.
- Ensure that deadlines/turnaround time (TATs) are met. Communicate any issues affecting TATs, quality, etc. with the Lab Manager in a timely fashion.
- Be proactive in ensuring that consumable supplies used for routine samples analysis are available in the lab.
- Other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Completed or working on completing a BSc. in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology) or closely related field.
- Familiarity with using plating and qPCR to perform microbial testing on samples and characterize/identify micro
- Skill to accurately test large numbers of samples with reliable repeatability and commitment to achieve good quality work.
- Experience in using LIMS system to record and document experimental activities and samples' results is an asset.
