The Opportunity:

This is a temporary position - Ending September 1, 2024

As a Lab Analyst you will:

Prepare clients samples and quality control (QC) samples for routine analysis using plating and qPCR techniques.
Maintain QC records and perform quality review of data to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the results.
Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) system to record and document results during the processing of samples.
Follow SOPs to ensure quality control criteria are met and maintain all documentation that are required for compliance.
Maintain a positive work environment for lab staff. Support and comply with all Valens policies, Quality System and Health & Safety programs.
Ensure that deadlines/turnaround time (TATs) are met. Communicate any issues affecting TATs, quality, etc. with the Lab Manager in a timely fashion.
Be proactive in ensuring that consumable supplies used for routine samples analysis are available in the lab.
Other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager.

Knowledge and Experience:

Completed or working on completing a BSc. in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology) or closely related field.
Familiarity with using plating and qPCR to perform microbial testing on samples and characterize/identify micro

- organisms such as E. coli, Salmonella, and fungi.

Skill to accurately test large numbers of samples with reliable repeatability and commitment to achieve good quality work.
Experience in using LIMS system to record and document experimental activities and samples' results is an asset.
Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines in a fast

- paced, changing environment.
