- JOB SUMMARY
The Shop Foreman/Forewoman is responsible for day-to-day operations in the fabrication facility as well as determining the strategic future for the departments equipment by utilizing Research and Development tools.
This includes creating electrical and equipment drawings for present and future, accountability for all equipment, inventory related to tank and lube system, construction, repair, and installation.
The Shop Foreman, using strong leadership and decision-making skills, will lead the team to meet their full potential through coaching and mentoring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for registration and permitting of tanks in accordance with the various authorities by province responsible for approval of tank installations.
- Create electrical and equipment drawings
- Provide accurate timelines for jobs in the shop and updates
- Work closely with the Petroleum Storage Systems Manager to optimize branch
- Resolve complaints on site by completing repairs/ maintenance or scheduling service calls.
- Respond to emergency mechanical issues in the field.
- Provide technical recommendations or solutions to challenges in the field
- Manage staff and assign duties efficiently to maximize production and staff cross training.
- Responsible for completing PO#'s and ensuring all paperwork and documents are coded to the correct areas
- Oversee employee schedules to maximize workload distribution.
- Maintain proper stocking and physical inventory procedures for parts and tanks, in the shop ensure maintenance of these policies.
- Train employees on the importance of safe work practices including proper use of equipment, cleaning guidelines and WHMIS procedures.
- Complete full incident investigations
- Assist with responding to maintenance needs, ensuring adequate coverage of shift schedules
- Provide feedback to the Petroleum Storage Systems Manager regarding customer opinions, usage trends, and other pertinent information.
- Maintain the building, equipment, and property of the facility.
- Ensuring a cleanly, organized shop with proper safety documentation and signage
- Lead and/or attend safety meetings.
- Other related duties as required or assigned.
- Experience with Drawing programs like solid works, AutoCAD, etc. an asset
- Management and / or supervisory experience
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
EXPERIENCE
2+ years' experience managing teams and long lead time parts supply
EDUCATION
- Post-Secondary in Tank Instrumentation or Electrical preferred
- High School Diploma required
