The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range:
$56,627- $62,420 starting salary
determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.


Performance range:
starting salary to max of $73,612
is available through annual performance increases.

  • Job SummaryThe Division of Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation (LTSI) is an academic support unit in the University, which reports to the Office of the Vice President Academic and Provost.

The Division has five portfolios of responsibility including:
Teaching Excellence, Technology Integrated Learning, Student Academic Success, Curriculum Renewal & Strategic Priorities and Community-Engaged Learning. The Division is focused on enhancing student learning and teaching excellence in academic programs across the University.


Reporting to the Educational Technology Support Manager, (TIL), the Junior Educational Technology Specialist provides learning technology support to Faculty members, instructors, staff, and students.

Working across LTSI Faculty Support Teams, the Jr.

Educational Technology Specialist triages incoming support requests and provides learning technology assistance and hands-on support for technology infused learning and teaching.

This position also works collaboratively as a team to create documentation that is effectively aligned for both our own reference as well as the UVic community's resources.


The position requires familiarity with a variety of learning technology platforms, including Brightspace, WordPress, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Echo360, and Crowdmark, and the ability to work with "administrator" access within the platforms.

Attention to detail and excellent communication are necessary skills for this position.


The position requires the coordination of calendars for workshops and meetings with key stakeholders and internal/external campus partners for the Director of Technology Integrated Learning.

This would entail planning any such event and booking any available meeting space for the event. This position may require evening and weekend hours.

  • Customer service
  • Office administration and working with competing deadlines
  • Working with technology in a higher education environment
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


In addition this position requires:

  • Interpret and write technical documentation for the layperson
  • Establish and maintain the documentation of different platforms
  • Strong client service aptitude
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing shared calendars to coordinate with stakeholders and other internal and external campus partners
  • Familiarity with learning technology, including Brightspace, Teams, Echo360, WordPress/Online Academic Community
  • Patience and empathy
  • Familiarity with Cascade or another web content management system
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Familiarity with the online learning environment—lecture capture, blended learning, and multiaccess learning
  • Familiarity with SharePoint/Connect
  • Sense of accountability with your work
