Miller McConnell Signs (MMS), Ottawa's top ranked custom sign manufacturer, is seeking a talented individual to assume the role of Print Technician.

POSITION OVERVIEW


The Print Technician's main responsibility is to assist in the production of high-quality signage through the use of equipment and software in the Print department.

This individual possesses department expertise / knowledge of equipment, materials, processes, standards, and timelines.


JOB FUCTIONS

  • Production Duties:_
  • Efficiently operate and conduct maintenance on all department resources, such as: Agfa Anapurna Flatbed Printer, HP 570 latex printer, Epson printer, and the MAXI-Press
  • Convert supplied files from prepress into production ready files using Adobe CS, and Onyx Thrive, and other design or RIP software
  • Department organization (equipment, materials, workinprogress, work orders, etc.)
  • Provide accurate order status updates to the Print Supervisor
  • Perform accurate updates to scheduling board in Trello
  • Manage department inventory
  • Maintain the operation integrity of department equipment and associated parts
  • Develop, create and adhere to processes & procedures
  • Proficient in using common tools including knives, measuring tape, saws, and drills
  • Research innovative uses for our technology in signage production
  • Detailoriented and possess basic math and spelling skills
  • Capable of handling 4' X 8' sheets and roll material up to 40 lbs
  • Other Desired Skills:_
  • Capable of using light power equipment, plotter, large format printers, laminators, and other tools as needed
  • Fabricate and assemble signs
  • Package signs for safe shipping
  • Proofread and conduct quality control measures to ensure accuracy of signs
  • A selfstarter who takes pride in their work
  • Experience working under pressure in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines
  • Responsible, prompt, reliable, and honest
  • Ability to work on a sustained basis within physical and environmental requirements applicable to the area of assignment (i.e., chemical agents, hot tools or materials, fumes, noise, or other similar conditions)
  • Regularly assess the production schedule throughout the day to ensure timelines are being met and be proactive in maximizing daily production output

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:


  • Comprehensive knowledge of Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop (educational certification or minimum 1 year working experience)
  • Knowledge of digital print machinery and hardware
  • Good knowledge of basic colour theory & colour management
  • 1 year of experience working in a sign production environment

This is a full-time, permanent position after a 90-day probationary period.

From $20.00 per hour
