    KINE 5P03 -Professional Kinesiology Practicum III

    Compensation

    Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.

    · Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $21.43 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, )

    · Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $33.72 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, )

    · In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant's duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

    Duties

    The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local , Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must have previous experience as a teaching assistant with experiential education courses; Successful applications will have an understanding of current University practices surrounding experiential educations, which includes but not limited to: practicum processes, program and practicum guidelines, reflective practice, etc.
    • Applicants must have experience with the Master of Professional Kinesiology Program
    • Applicants must be at least PhD students currently enrolled in an Applied Health Sciences Doctoral program, or who have completed a PhD in Applied Health Sciences or equivalent; and
    • The successful applicant must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students, be punctual in attending classes, and be able to meet appropriate deadlines.
