Location:
Pinawa, Manitoba


Schedule:
Four hour shifts - Monday to Thursday


Job Summary
The Whiteshell (WL) Maintenance Planning and Work Management (MPWM) facilitates Integrated Work Control across the WL site. This includes manufacturing, construction, maintenance and decommissioning services to supporting WL Operating Facilities, the WL Projects and Support teams.


The Work Planner develops and builds work planning packages to support maintenance, construction and decommissioning activities by coordinating and conducting field level walk down assessments to identify industrial hazards and subsequent mitigations, layout and sequence the detailed field work execution activities and provide a forecast of the resource requirements required to execute the field work to the MPWM Scheduler in support of the WL Integrated Work Control (IWC) program and the WL MPWM team.


They also provide support to the Work Control Manager and other Branch, Program and Division members and is responsible for performing their work in a safe, efficient and timely manner.


Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) employees perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety and regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e.

utilizing personal protective equipment as per safe work procedures).

Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements.


Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum three (3) years Technical College or University diploma/degree;
- or a Journeyperson trades certification with seven (7) years or more of relevant experience;
- or a combination of education and experience combined with a minimum five (5) years of technical maintenance/work management experience.


Experience

  • Trades background, technical background and/or Red Seal designation, preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience planning work, work management exposure and have demonstrated the technical ability to assume responsibilities as described above.
  • Demonstrated technical ability to draft and develop detailed field work execution plans/activities and create safe work instructions by identifying industrial hazards and employing hazard mitigation strategies to safely execute building maintenance, construction, remediation and demolition work activities.

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements with an ability to work under pressure.
  • Detail orientated with the ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate initiative and sound judgement to organize and maintain the flow and accuracy of multiple Work Instruction Packages at various stages of development.
  • Familiarity with maintenance work procedures, N286 documentation, General Conduct of Operations, site procedures and work permit requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpreted Engineered Drawings.
  • Understanding of IWC ideologies and willing to promote new ideas using good communication and problem solving skills.
  • Perform duties in a manner that promotes safety, efficiency, department and Nuclear Operations goals and objectives.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and dialogue for the Work Management and Maintenance teams to ensure proper job status and take suitable actions for resolving conflicts.
  • Competent in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stay motivated and achieve the established department goals and objectives.
  • Basic understanding of nuclear and conventional ASME and Canadian piping and pressure vessel codes, Canadian Building Codes, and (HVAC) Systems/Codes.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the current Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects for Ontario.
  • Experience with selection process equipment relevant to WL facilities and maintenance management practices.
  • Willing to undergo additional training appropriate to the position, eg. Computer training, Quality Assurance, Applicable Codes, Team Building Skills.
  • Ability to understand and possess a working knowledge of the Work Management Software
  • Must have an uptodate working knowledge of all applicable company and general safety regulations and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of site systems and equipment.
  • Skill in use of computer programs (Word and Excel) and willingness to participate in continuing training in related software.
  • Ability to take on technical writing to create comprehensive Work Instruction Packages.
