Mahmowenchike Family Development Centre is seeking passionate & dedicated individuals to join our team in
full-time permanent positions beginning as soon as possible. At Mahmowenchike, it is our goal to provide high-quality child care and support to families and children and we foster an environment of inclusion and continuous learning. We currently have three locations in Thunder Bay, Ontario
:St. Vincent school (150 Redwood Avenue West - offers infant through school age programming),
St. Ann school (1130 Georgina Avenue - offers toddler through school age programming), and
St. Elizabeth school (735 Selkirk Street - offers before and after school care only).

We work as a cohesive team which means supporting each other and supporting our centres to be the best that we can be.


Currently, we are seeking two (2) permanent full-time Early Childhood Educators which, at this time, may fill a program vacancy at our St.

Vincent location and a floater position working between our three locations as needed at full-time hours.


At Mahmowenchike, we seek to promote the Four Foundations outlined in _How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years_ (Belonging, Well-being, Engagement, and Expression) alongside the Seven Grandfather Teachings (Love, Respect, Bravery, Truth, Honesty, Humility and Wisdom).

We aim to promote these values for our staff team as well as within our programming for children and families.


  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent education and experience (not a requirement for casual positions, but an asset);
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the _Child Care and Early Years Act_ and the _How Does Learning Happen? _Pedagogical document
  • Standard First Aid and CPR, level C (with infant and child CPR) certification from a WSIBapproved program
  • Current (within 6 months) clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
  • Uptodate immunization record
  • Knowledge of the Ojibway language and Indigenous traditions, teachings, and culture are assets
  • Ability to work individually as well as on a team
  • Passion for providing quality care and investing in strong, authentic relationships with children, families, and team members
  • High level of attention to confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and high energy level


Permanent positions range from $17.00-$22.00/hr for unqualified educators (depending on experience in child care) and $19.25-$24.50/hr for qualified educators (depending on experience in child care).


Mahmowenchike Family Development Centre also offers permanent staff RRSP contributions, paid personal days, group benefits including extended health care and dental coverage, as well as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and a challenging and exciting work environment.

  • G driver's license (and own vehicle) (preferred)
