Kawartha Cardiology is a busy, progressive facility that houses 8 Cardiologists, over 80 clinical and support staff to serve a large geographical population.

Our facility offers an extensive range of services including specialized programs in vascular, stroke, diabetes, respirology and cardiac care.


Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Billing Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of medical billing, including: OHIP, third-party and private insurance for the assigned client list.

This is a highly detailed position with an emphasis on tenacity, time management, technical skills and interpersonal skills.


Role Summary:


  • Daily data entry submissions of OHIP claims to the Ministry of Health
  • Processing claims for solo and group providers
  • Reconciliation of error reports and relevant reports from Ministry of Health
  • Monthly remittance advice reports from Ministry of Health
  • Creation of monthly spreadsheets/invoices distributed to clinics/physicians summarizing payments received
  • Liaise with Ministry of Health forms, queries, etc.
  • Monitoring of OHIP and Non-OHIP billing rules through various communication platforms (Ministry of Health, Ontario Medical Association
  • Monthend OHIP and Third-Party reconciliations
  • Ensure completion of physician daily billing sheets or daily billing submissions
  • Resolve errors and corrections in a timely fashion
  • Knowledge of Remittance Advice Enquiries and Manual Review procedures
  • Assist senior team members with billing administration where appropriate

Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of medical billing experience (Cardiology an asset)
  • Experience working with an EMR system
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of hospital billing an asset
  • Meticulous, organized and skilled at working on several tasks at the same time
  • Experience managing multiple accounts and specialties
  • Ability to prioritize, organize workload and plan independently
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
