Primary Purpose


Reporting to the HR Business Partner, the HR Advisor - Compensation & Data Analytics will take a lead on compensation strategy and data analytics.

The position functions in an environment where considerable attention to detail and the ability to handle highly confidential material is required.

The role holder is expected to be customer service-oriented and exhibit a high degree of diplomacy and discretion.


Specific Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the University:

  • Provide support to executive members and HR managers on compensation matters.
  • Prepare adhoc and periodic compensation reports for analysis.
  • Support the administration of short and longterm incentive plans.
  • Collaborate in the development and updating of compensation policies and rules.
  • Participate in the development of the salary structure for the University.
  • Participate in job evaluations and classification.
  • Collaborate in defining compensation for new hires, promotions, and transfers of employees, observing the rules and the guidelines of the positions and salary plans to contribute to decisionmaking.
  • Collaborate on salary surveys, using the consulting firm's support, analyzing and inputting salary data.
  • Analyze the salary increase process as a result of salary structure grading.
  • Participate in the salary review process for senior executives and employees for the entire organization.
  • Collaborate on the company's performance management cycle.
  • Collaborate on the update of documents (policies, guides, presentations) linked to the performance management program.
  • Participate in various special projects within the Human Resources Department.
  • Provide Compensation support for the assigned segment(s) of the University.
  • Perform the full scope of activities associated with the development and administration of competitive and legally compliant compensation programs.
  • Consult with and advises business partners and respective managers on compensation policy interpretation, new hire offers, promotions, market analyses, job description/evaluation and other compensation projects and initiatives
  • Advise/support the assigned organization on base pay, shortterm incentive, and longterm incentive administration
  • Ensure internal and external pay equity within the assigned organization
  • Collaborate on the design and review of special compensation programs and/or incentive plans
  • Assist with compensation trend analysis; provides pointintime status reports and completes ad hoc reporting requests
  • Audit jobs/pay levels to identify and resolve issues arising from reorganizations, contractual changes, acquisitions, etc.
  • Develop recommendations for improvements to compensation processes, ensuring alignment with company policies and philosophy
  • Assist with grade range construction based on internal data and external market considerations.
  • Produce reports and analyzes compensation data to support client deliverables such as, merit budget, salary structure management and incentive plan pools and audits.
  • Prepare our global annual compensation review cycle including budget calculations, training materials, advanced comp configurations and testing, review cycles, etc.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with HR concentration
  • Minimum 5+ years of HR administrative experience
  • General understanding of BC employment standards and legislation
  • Benefits administration experience would be an asset
  • CPHR preferred or in process to attain
  • Prior recruitment experience is preferred
  • Proficiency with Human Resource Information System (Cezanne or any cloud based HRIS)
