(AMI) is a not-for-profit multimedia organization serving more than five million Canadians who are blind, partially sighted, deaf, hard of hearing, mobility or print restricted.

AMI operates three broadcast services, AMI-tv and AMI-audio in English and AMI-télé in French.

We are currently looking for a Technical Producer, AMI-audio to join our team in Toronto.

This role will accomplish AMI's audio programming objectives by leading the technical production of AMI's pre-recorded programming, live recordings and automation management.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage AMIaudio's Automation System through adding and receiving promos and features in a timely manner, ensuring that programs are uptodate in the automation, maximizing the potential of automation systems, and reacting to offair notifications and resolving issues remotely.
  • Preproduction:
  • Prepare music, clips, SFX, and prerecorded segments for air.
  • Prepare for appearing in onair segments, including selecting stories, writing scripts, and obtaining audio files and clips.
  • Work closely with show producers, hosts, and guests to prepare materials and audio setups ahead of the program.
  • Execute a preshow check of equipment and software to ensure mínimal technical disruptions during live or prerecorded shows.
  • Live Production:
  • Manage all technical considerations for live programming, including operation of the audio board, playing music, clips, breaks and features at scheduled times. Manage remoteonly shows by connecting all hosts and guests and troubleshooting any technical issues.
  • Contribute onair to the show through delivering topics on air, playing supporting clips and audio files, and engaging hosts and team members into the show
  • Manage Post-Production of Live Recordings through contributing to postshow meetings, processing files, performing quality control checks, and liaising with the Control Room and Master control throughout production.


  • Pre-Recorded Production

  • Original Podcasts
  • Collaborate with outside contributors on prerecorded shows and podcasts. Make editorial and technical decisions to produce highquality programming.
  • Create podcast promotion content for on air presentation on live shows
  • Support Podcast Coordinator by entering podcast data into tracking document, and supporting analysis of data as required.
  • Promote AMI podcasts by identifying clips, writing scripts, mixing with voice and music.


  • Pre-Recorded Production

  • Reading Shows
  • Manage reading shows through recording readers in the studio, providing feedback to readers, and augmenting the program through the selection of music and clips.
  • Broadcast Operations
  • Maintain the broadcast network by monitoring and adjusting cross points, checking settings and connections in web GUIs and servers, and ensuring proper routing to broadcast encoders, recorders, video control room, and web streams.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing results as needed.

Requirements:


  • College Diploma in Broadcast, Media or Audio Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Strong knowledge of studio boards, equipment, related studio software is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of stereo mastering software e.g. Adobe Audition, Audacity, Pro Tools is essential.
  • Experience with broadcast hardware and software e.g. Comrex, Tieline, Wheatstone is an asset.
  • Attention to auditory and visual detail. Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, schedule priorities and meet deadlines.
