Summer Insurance - Data Analyst Co-op


Please note:

This posting is for an 8-month Student Summer 2023 placement with a start date of May 2023, and end-date of December 2023.

In order to be eligible for this 8-month Student position, you must either:


  • Be returning back to school after the work term enddate of December 2023; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in December 2023), you must require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

What will you do?

  • Work within a dynamic environment where you are encouraged to aid in process improvement and work with autonomy
  • Develop processes and procedures for business and Data Science support
  • Participate in collecting, reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business user needs
  • Assist and participate in data creation, validation and cleaning to ensure the quality and integrity of data through the use of programming scripts
  • Maintain and develop internal relationships
  • Input and analyze data
  • Resolve internal and external queries in a professional manner
  • Support and Reconcile monthly data reports

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Knowledge in Building, Documenting and Assessing Processes
  • Excellent working knowledge of Python and Python libraries such as Pandas, Scikitlearn, Pyodbc, and data visualization tools
  • Experience using Python, SQL
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking and time management skills
  • Strong Teamwork and Collaboration Skills
  • Analytical Thinking

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with End User Reporting Tools (ex. Tableau)
  • Actuarial Knowledge and Insurance industry knowledge
  • Knowledge of factors affecting Claims and Insurance Policies
  • Cloud computing platform working knowledge (Azure, AWS)
  • Other programming skills considered an asset
