Local 258 IBEW is seeking a dedicated and skilled Business Representative to join our team in Langley, BC.

As the Business Representative, you will be responsible for various communications, media, marketing, and public relations tasks to promote and represent our organization.


Responsibilities:


Webmaster, Publisher, and Editor:
Manage our website, ensuring it is up-to-date and engaging for our members and the public. Edit and publish our Hotline Magazine, ensuring high-quality content.

Press Secretary and Publicist:
Issue all press releases, crafting them in a way that aligns with our brand, values, and identity.

Political Action Committee Secretary:
Manage the administrative tasks related to our Political Action Committee.

Social Media and Marketing:
Oversee and maintain our social media channels, posting regular news updates and engaging content. Design graphics and logos for various functions and events.

Event Coverage:
Attend conferences, labour rallies, and events, capturing photos and writing articles about the happenings.

Fundraising and Sponsorships:
Seek out donations, sponsors, and advertisers for Union events, such as our annual golf tournament and Hotline Magazine.

Stay Informed:

Keep abreast of provincial and federal labor issues and stories, accurately reporting on them through our various communication channels.


Collaboration:

Work closely with our organizing and membership development departments, supporting them with designing digital and print media for organizing campaigns.


Government and Political Relations:
Meet with government officials and political organizations to develop relationships that benefit our organization.

Video Production:
Utilize video editing skills to film and edit videos promoting and advertising our organization.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in communications, media, and public relations roles, preferably within a labour union or similar organization.
  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills.
  • Proficiency in website management, social media platforms, and graphic design software.
  • Knowledge of labour issues and an understanding of the labour movement in British Columbia.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Video editing skills and experience with creating engaging multimedia content.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines effectively.

Salary:
$59.04 per hour

  • Publishing: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Drivers License (preferred)
