As a member of the Finance team and working under the direction of the Manager, Financial Accounting and Reporting (MFAR), or designate, the Financial Analyst ensures the accurate and timely provision of financial information and analysis.

This includes the provision of various financial and statistical reports and technical accounting support for internal and external customers with quality customer service.


The Financial Analyst functions include, but are not limited to, reviewing and posting financial entries, providing reports for monitoring and control of expenditures and for budget preparation, as well as assisting with month end and year end procedures including preparation for audit.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Preparing monthly account reconciliations for all asset and liability accounts and provide correction and adjustment entries where appropriate.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger journal entries to record all banking fees, interest and investments earnings, and bank transfers.
  • Provide ongoing individual current, former and written off tenant account reconciliations for the District Managers and COO; processing corrections where required.
  • Prepare monthly and annual accrual entries.
  • Providing financial analyses where requested by the Manager and /or CFO for any and all accounts by printing the relevant general ledger accounts, reviewing backup documentation, researching variances and determining a course of action for corrections where, or if, required.
  • Providing financial analyses where required and assuring that financial services to the other departments of the Corporation are at an optimum level.
  • Assist in developing specific yearend scheduled duedates and AP guidelines, preparing reports and corrections and providing accrual information as required; referring to supervisor any problems of an unusual nature.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements:


  • Completion of a post secondary threeyear diploma or degree in accounting.
  • Proven knowledge of general accounting practices and procedures in a computerized accounting environment.
  • Good knowledge of general office procedures including records management along with a mathematical aptitude and analytical skills applicable to various financial and accounting functions.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problemsolving skills are required to reconcile financial data.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
  • Good financial analysis skills and internal/external audit review techniques.
  • Good verbal and written skills are required to interpret and communicate financial information to a diverse audience.
  • Knowledge of Yardi Property Management Systems an asset.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours as required on occasion.
