About the Role


We are currently recruiting a Service Manager local to the Fort McMurray area to oversee the field service team, shop, and facility service operations, while maintaining a positive overall experience with our customers for their fire suppression needs.


Apart from operational execution, this role will oversee the profitability and revenue growth of the branch as well as recruitment, supervision coaching, and mentoring a team of up to 15 direct reports while also providing technical guidance.


You will have a proven track record of success and relevant work experience in managing a service operation in fire suppression services and work effectively with other departments such as Customer Service, Sales, Accounting, Warehousing, Procurement, and Management to achieve overall company objectives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide leadership, support, and guidance to the field service supervisors through goal setting, performance management review of performance commitments and ongoing dialogue
  • Develop business plans and objectives for the branch to meet overall service objectives
  • Work with the business development team on new opportunities and work towards growth of the service team. Work with field supervisors, design solution specialists on front end quoting and execution. Manage daily activity on contracts and support the bids and tender's process
  • Achieve profitability and effectiveness by maximizing technician labour efficiency and controlling servicerelated costs relative to the annual budget
  • Manage all customers and subcontractors to ensure excellent service quality and support are prompt and professional
  • Support the field service team in the region to achieve consistency and results as well as support others across the country as required
  • Work closely with the regional admin manager to ensure our service admin and scheduling team provide excellent customer service in an efficient and professional manner
  • The role will also encompass overview of the health and safety policies and procedures and overall compliance to existing standards including health and safety leadership, maintaining a functioning health and safety committee, and participating in toolbox safety meetings
  • Ensure that site specific safety requirements are met and implemented and to strive towards an accidentfree workplace
  • Manage vehicle maintenance programs and monitor mobile and offsite tools and inventory, vehicles and trailers as well as ensure health and safety objectives are met. Scheduling repairs and maintenance of the branch facility and vehicles is also an integral part of this role
Ideal Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years industry experience with at least 5 of those years in a senior supervisor/management capacity
  • Technical degree or industry certifications in one or more fire alarms, sprinklers, HVAC, or vehicle fire suppression
  • Good comprehension of the service/ fire industry and or technical background
  • Working knowledge of OHS regulations in a supervisory or management capacity
  • Computer and system savvy
  • Selfmotivated and results orientated and capable of moving easily between operating details and broader service objectives
  • Ability to meet tight timelines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to travel as required
