The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is one of Canada's longest-standing institutions and is deeply embedded in the history and unfolding story of our country.

The RCMP Heritage Centre represents a rich space for historical preservation, exploration of alternate perspectives, and the pursuit of reconciliation.

It has become a major destination centre that celebrates the traditions and history of the RCMP.

More recently, the RCMP Heritage Centre is embarking on an exciting new chapter of its own story by undergoing the process to become established as a national museum in Canada, embracing a new vision with social impact.

Importance of Role to the RCMP Heritage Centre


This position plays a pivotal role in helping to transform and communicate the purpose, mission, and activities of the RCMP Heritage Centre.

This position will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to market and build the reputation of a Centre unlike any other in the world.

To accomplish this, the Centre requires a highly motivated and strategic individual who strives to tell incredible stories, steward and build the brand, and reach the hearts and minds of people across Canada.

This energetic collaborator will lead and execute critical marketing and communications initiatives, and support the RCMP Heritage Centre through organizational change as the Centre delivers a world-class visitor experience while working toward a dream 20 years in the making—achieving national museum status.


Position Overview


The Manager of Marketing & Communications plays an integral role in promoting our organization, showcasing our impact, and telling the many stories in captivating and compelling ways.

As a strategic and creative communicator and content creator, you will support all RCMP Heritage Centre teams in promoting and communicating programs and services.


We are looking for a strategic thinker and emerging leader who can juggle multiple projects while executing day to day.

We need someone who is energetic and has a breadth of experience to help us take our next big step in service delivery to a national standard.


Reporting to the CEO and directed by the CEO and leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in positioning the Centre positively, making community connections, and building the reputation of the Centre as a world-class cultural experience.


As the Manager of Marketing and Communications, your priorities will be: strategic leadership and execution for supporting marketing and communications related to the National Status Project, and planning and execution of day to day operational marketing and communications projects and initiatives, and management of our many visitor and brand channels and touchpoints.


Functions of the Role:


Strategic Communications and Marketing Planning and Oversight

  • Under guidance of the CEO, you will be responsible for understanding the organization's strategic priorities and initiatives to develop and direct the organization's marketing and communications.
  • Providing guidance and direction to the Marketing and Communications Coordinator and Graphic Designer.
  • You will be responsible for leading marketing and communications strategies, like: content strategies, earned media strategies, brand strategies, etc. under guidance of the CEO.
  • Assistance and support for planning and creative execution of key strategic donor events including galas.

Writing and Content Creation

  • You will be a natural storyteller with the ability to identify the who, what, where and why of the many programs and services the Centre offers, and using your experience and imagination to leverage these stories strategically and creatively.
  • Oversight for the content channel strategy and execution, including digital channel updates (website updates, content calendar implementation and leadership, tracking and reporting)
  • Writing and editing all communications and marketing material including (but not limited to) web content, social media content, posters, promotional items, collateral, annual reports, etc. and managing production of items (like printed posters, brochures or pull up banners), in support of the organization's str
