Your role

Radio-Canada Alberta is looking for an Associate Producer based in Edmonton or Calgary to join its digital team.

In this role, you will be responsible for helping the Digital Producer create, share and promote content and news stories for digital platforms, including the ICI Alberta page.


You may be asked to develop digital projects, suggest ideas for multiplatform stories, write copy and subheads, and take part in projects involving videos or other vertical formats.

You will also edit videos and be involved in posting Vidéojournal newscasts.

We are looking for a creative self-starter with experience creating content for a variety of audiences across multiple platforms. You must have a good understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices.

You will be required to edit vertical videos, support reporters in their digital projects and help roll out special projects.


  • Strong editorial judgment and digital writing skills.
  • Solid grasp of the various digital production formats.
  • Ability to edit and repurpose video using Premiere.
  • Creativity and innovation.
  • The desire to learn.
This role will evolve along with changing team needs, technologies and formats.


Qualifications:

  • University degree.
  • Two or more years' relevant experience during which you gained exposure to journalism, the media, computers, broadcast technologies and digital platforms.
  • Solid command of spoken and written French; good knowledge of English.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) required.
  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  • Good knowledge of major news stories in the province and across Canada.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative and creativity.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills; excellent team player.
  • Openness to new workflows and training.
  • Familiarity with inhouse production tools an asset (iNews, Dalet, MediaCentral, Adobe Premiere, Picto, Scoop).
  • Knowledge of photography an asset.
