Description of Duties:


Plans, coordinates, and promotes quality improvement projects and initiatives within Public Health, such as the implementation of the Ontario Public Health Organizational Standards accreditation, culture of excellence initiatives, and other strategic projects.


Current assignment:


Assignment 1:

Supporting the Strategy, Performance and Organizational Standards Division, on departmental projects and initiatives, including implementation and maintenance of the Ontario Public Health Standards, culture of excellence and other strategic projects.


Assignment 2:
S upporting Infectious Diseases Division on equity-based initiatives including scheduling, data collection, and coordination needs for the Neighbourhood (vaccine) Bus and Neighbourhood Nursing Team


Duties/Responsibilities:


Researches, plans, and coordinates the implementation of projects and activities with a focus on organizational standards, accreditation, quality practices, policies, procedures and business processes.

Develops work packages within a project based on research findings, evidence and best practice. Creates detailed work plans, time lines, and project team subgroups. Ensures that all stakeholders are appropriately consulted, represented or involved.

Facilitates and leads multi-disciplinary project teams and recruits participants for committees and working groups.

Chairs internal departmental committees and work groups, while supporting broader Regional committees to identify and implement tasks and activities and ensure the goals, objectives and time lines of the work packages are met.

Networks with and shares information with other health units and agencies on implementation of organizational and accreditation standards and other initiatives.


Identifies and defines planning and implementation issues, needs, resources and opportunities for integrated planning with other divisions, departments and stakeholders.

Builds partnerships with other divisions and departments to organize and coordinate efforts.

Works collaboratively with Regional staff and other stakeholders to collect and catalogue evidence, and identify gaps and/or reconcile variances in meeting requirements.

Formulates specific plans toward meeting and/or increasing compliance with standards and requirements.


Plans, coordinates and conducts inventories and assessments with Departmental and Corporate staff regarding operations, services, administrative/management practices, and program performance.

Designs and conducts program evaluations and analyzes and interprets findings; makes recommendations for improvements to the Project Manager. Determines project evaluation criteria in consultation with Manager, Accreditation & Quality Initiatives (PH).


Identifies and recommends opportunities for ongoing improvements in support of best practices and in compliance with organizational and accreditation standards.

Monitors work packages and plans and provides information and status updates regarding project components, standards, processes and expectations to management, health unit staff and other stakeholders.

Develops and implements communication strategies, plans, campaigns, promotional/educational materials, and events. Provides information and training and makes presentations to Regional staff and other stakeholders.

Organizes and hosts group meetings, individual discussions, and promotional sessions or events.

Develops, implements and maintains Excel spreadsheets or other databases to track activities and project. Collects, catalogues and maintains evidence related to compliance with standards and accreditation.


Prepares and presents necessary documentation, including formal reports, to provide information, obtain input, present recommendations and obtain approvals for work package development and implementation, from the Manager, Accreditation & Quality Initiatives.

Participates in emergency response activities according to the prescribed role in the PH Emergency Response Plan.

Assists management in the preparation of project budgets, by preparing work package costing and making budgetary recommendations.

Ensures that promotional and educational materials and equipment; and a personal computer used for own work are maintained in good working condition
