Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Specialist, under the direction of the Director of Software Development, will primarily be responsible to perform security and quality control testing.
The Quality Assurance Specialist must have a degree or diploma in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering, or a field related to the industry and three to five years of experience in software testing.
Job Duties
- Retrieve and review the requirements from requirement, solution and design specifications
- Identify test requirements from requirements/specification documents.
- Develop, execute and maintain testing strategies, plans, and test cases for various products and projects.
- Identify and advocate QA testing standards and processes.
- Utilize various testing tools as appropriate, in order to automate the execution of test cases.
- Conduct risk analyses, verification, validation activities, and formal design reviews as needed.
- Perform security and quality control testing
- Facilitate test plan/case reviews with team members
- Provide clear and concise feedback on bugs, usability and other test findings/results
- Identify, Isolate, replicate, and report defects and escalate quality issues accordingly
- Assist the development team in assessing and improving testing ability of the system.
- Develop execute and maintain manual and automated user acceptance tests.
- Liaise with developers, team members and stakeholders to identify and correct bugs based on requirements/design.
- Perform usability tests throughout the process and document results of these tests
- Stay informed on new or emerging trends and technologies that provide clear benefits to the organization, business partners, and/or customers/clients
Job Requirements
- Degree or diploma in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering, web design, or a field related to the industry
- Three to five years experience in software testing environment. Developing, executing and verifying test cases. Also 2+ years experience in automation development
- Familiarity with various programming languages and development platforms such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript and WordPress
- Knowledge of Web based XML and JSON APIs, also experience with C#,.Net and ASP
- Experience with project and defect tracking tools (TestLink, Jira)
- A sense of good design/UX principles.
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Experience developing and maintaining automated tests using automation tools (Selenium IDE/Builder/WebDriver) considered an asset
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment

- 8 hour shift
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Guelph, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
