    The School District

    The Board of Education of School District 81 (Fort Nelson) is seeking an accomplished financial leader for the position of Secretary-Treasurer-CFO, with a mutually agreeable start date to be negotiated.

    Fort Nelson School District is located in the heart of the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality in Treaty 8 territory, on the traditional territories of the Fort Nelson First Nation, Prophet River First Nation, Acho Dene Koe First Nation, and the traditional home of the Kaska Dena peoples.

    The district has approximately 670 FTE students in 4 in-town schools, and one rural/remote school in Toad River. We have contracted bus and janitorial services.

    The Secretary-Treasurer, as the Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of the Board of Education and Childcare, fulfills the responsibilities and requirements of the Secretary-Treasurer as outlined in the School Act and Regulations.

    This individual will have a strong work ethic, be committed to excellence and continuous improvement, and will be a contributing member of the senior team.

    Ministry of Education and Childcare, local government and community.

    The selected candidate will have at least five years of successful senior level financial and business management experience with the ability to share and report financial information to ensure effective decision making.

    Ideally, the candidate will have worked in the education field and will hold significant accounting training and experience. It would be most desirable for the individual to hold a professional accounting designation. Familiarity with PowerSchool Atrieve and the BMW budget program would also be an asset.
