Richmond Hospital Department of Psychiatry is currently seeking a psychiatrist to join in a Permanent position to fill two part time positions in hospital. Position to start immediately.
Richmond Hospital Psychiatry Consult Liaison Program (0.2 FTE position) is based at Richmond Hospital and provides consultation and short-term management of general mental health conditions. The majority of referrals are from physicians admitting patients on medical/surgical wards. The Consult Liaison Program Psychiatrist provides psychiatric assessment and treatment to patients admitted in medical and surgical wards, and would liaise and collaborate with the primary care team for integrated patient care. Supervision for medical students and psychiatry residents may also be required.
Richmond Rapid Access Consult Clinic (0.3 FTE Position) is based in Richmond Hospital, this service provides rapid consult services for referrals from the Emergency Department and Family Physicians in the community for patients requiring urgent consult and counselling services.
Richmond Hospital In-Patient Service (0.5 FTE position) is based at Richmond Hospital and specifically provides services to admitted in-patients in hospital. The Psychiatrist would provide psychiatric assessment and treatment to patients admitted in medical and surgical wards, do consultants in the Emergency Department and would liaise and collaborate with the primary care team for integrated patient care.
Richmond Hospital is a fully accredited, 228 acute care bed facility serving a local population of 200,000 with an additional catchment area of almost 120,000. Richmond Hospital is focused on meeting the needs of the people it serves and is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide services to an adult population in a team-based model.
Richmond is the fourth most populous and fast growing municipalities in Metro Vancouver. To meet the growing demand for healthcare services, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is ensuring we plan for the future. Richmond Hospital is undergoing plans for a campus wide expansion and renewal. As announced on July 2020 by the Premier and Minster of Health, the aims is to build a new acute care tower. Incorporating modernized healthcare design principles, the new facility provide increased inpatient care beds, perioperative services, medical imaging and emergency services to support quality patient care and staff wellness and safety. Detailed planning is currently underway with a project completion target of 2028.
