We are looking for a
Pharmacist or
Pharmacy Technician registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) to join our team as the Compounding Supervisor (Sterile and Non-Sterile).

The Compounding Supervisor develops, organizes and oversees all activities related to sterile and non-sterile preparation compounding.


In accordance with the appropriate supervision protocol and quality control measures, the Compounding Supervisor will assign technical tasks related to sterile preparation or non-sterile preparation compounding to pharmacy assistants with the appropriate training, using a formal delegation process that complies with the provincial authority requirements.


Responsibilities:

The Compounding Supervisor ensures that the following requirements are met:

  • A personnel training and assessment program is implemented and maintained.
  • Personnel know and fully comply with all compounding policies and procedures.
  • Prevention measures are implemented, in collaboration with the pharmacy manager or pharmacy department head, to limit personnel exposure to hazardous products.
  • Master Formulation Records are developed, reviewed and updated.
  • A risk assessment is performed for each compounded preparation to determine whether appropriate requirements are met.
  • Policies and procedures covering all activities are developed, regularly reviewed, updated (at least every three years or more frequently when standards have changed) and consistently followed.
  • The facilities and equipment used to compound sterile preparations meet requirements and are maintained, calibrated or certified according to manufacturers' specifications or standards, whichever are more stringent.
  • The existing compounding process yields highquality sterile preparations that are safe for patients.
  • The available, recognized scientific literature is used to determine stability and to establish the beyonduse date (BUD) for each sterile preparation.
  • A quality assurance program designed to ensure that preparation activities are performed in accordance with standards of practice, scientific standards, existing data and relevant information is implemented and followed.
  • Current editions of mandatory and supplementary references are available and updated regularly. Appendix 2 lists required publications and suggestions for supplementary references.
  • All records required by the Model Standards are completed, maintained and readily available for audit and inspection purposes.
  • Procedures for incident/accident reporting and followup and recall procedures are in place.
  • Is a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician who is registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
  • Has relevant experience and training
  • Experience with aseptic technique and safe handling of hazardous drugs
  • Is familiar with compounding
  • Is a team player, as well as a leader
  • Wants to join a growing organization
  • Is computer savvy
  • Has fine attention to detail
- ‪Kroll software proficiency is an asset
