    Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)

    This is moderately complex budgeting and complex clerical work performed to support a large department. An incumbent prepares a variety of budget and other documents of moderate complexity using an electronic spreadsheet and the online accounting system to access and create documents incorporating basic mathematical formulae; enters, formats, balances, edits, merges, deletes and prints the data; creates and prints a variety of charts and graphs using graphics software; receives divisional budget and periodic reporting submissions and checks information for completeness and accuracy; compiles divisional and department budgets and periodic reporting using electronic spread-sheets; prepares and maintains correct allocation of costs; analyzes variances between estimated and actual costs; liaises with divisions within the department to clarify data; monitor and control accounts for capital projects; presents status reports of capital projects at departmental meetings; supervises or carries out clerical office work involving the review of invoices for payment and creation of financial adjusting journal entries in consultation with supervisors; assists in training departmental staff; provides information and assistance, resolves routine problems and explains procedures to a variety of internal contacts. Performs related work as required.

    Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by the completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Preparatory Non-Core Courses or post-secondary course equivalencies that are required for entry in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP), plus some related municipal experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Considerable knowledge of applicable bylaws, departmental policies, practices, and procedures; of municipal budget preparation procedures and formats; of departmental operations and functions as related to the work performed. Ability to review departmental budget documents for completeness, accuracy, variances and conformance to City standards; to process budget information with speed and accuracy within tight deadlines; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; to assign, supervise and review the work of clerical subordinates.

    This is a Temporary Full Time position until April 18, 2025.
