THE ROLE

Since its inception, Hylands Golf Club has matured into a top-quality golf facility that offers a full range of services and amenities to its 1200 members and their guests.

A true jewel among Canadian Forces golf facilities, Hylands continues to host numerous regional, national and international events. As part of CFMWS, our mandate is to provide affordable golf to our local military personnel and their families.


If you enjoy the outdoors and want to work in a first-class golf course setting with a dynamic team, Hylands Golf Club is the perfect place to work.

As an integral part of the grounds maintenance department, as a greenskeeper, you will be trained on different equipment in order to maintain all playing surfaces on a 36 hole golf course.

You will maintain greens, tee box areas, turf on fairways, sand traps and rough.

You will perform basic horticultural duties such as planting and pruning trees, shrubs and flowers, creating, maintaining flowerbeds, spreading topsoil, laying sod, planting flowers and assist with the construction of a landscape and related structures.


As the greenskeeper, you will also be responsible for maintaining and repairing golf course buildings, structures and accessories such as fences, benches and stakes, removing rocks from fairways and repairing and filling fairway and tee divots.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED Education, Certifications and Licenses**An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered


AND
Valid driver's license class G (Ontario) or equivalent


Experience
In landscaping or grounds maintenance
In operating specialized turf care equipment


Knowledge
Of landscaping practices and techniques
Of health and safety practices
Of the rules and strategies of the game of golf, an asset
Of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)


Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Preference will be granted in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the UFCW local 175 bargaining unit at CFSG Ottawa-Gatineau.
