  • The Auto Body Serviceman assists the Auto Body Technicians to ensure that scheduled and nonscheduled units move efficiently and smoothly in and out the Auto Body Shop by ferrying units; staging, performing minor auto body tasks and detailing units after service; conducting shop maintenance; and performing other duties to assist the Technicians

Primary duties include:

  • Locate units at either the Manchester yard or east compound and drive and park them in the appropriate bays in the Auto Body Shop and drive units to external vendors.
  • Conduct general shop maintenance including inspecting the hoist at the beginning of each shift, power sweeping the shop floor, emptying waste and recycling bins, painting the paint booth and changing filters.

Perform other activities such as maintaining inspection and maintenance records, boosting dead batteries, lifting heavy parts such as roof, side or Sprinter van panels and locking cabinets and the building at the end of the shift.

Qualifications
***- A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g GED) plus 1 year of experience working in a related position in the auto body industry.

  • A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence, with no more than 6 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • A valid "Q" endorsement is considered an asset; all successful applicants must be able to obtain a "Q" endorsement within 2 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude will be considered as an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong analytical skills, customer service, attention to detail and technical proficiency.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in Auto Body Shop where exposed to small equipment and chemicals (e.g. bonding fillers and paint); perform minor maintenance that requires exposure to scrap metal, cleaning supplies and used batteries.


Pre-employment RequirementsMust obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
