-Core Function:_On the communications team at St. Joe's Foundation, we're a small shop, so we take great pride in being copy writers and social media managers, video producers, speech writers and content creators. There's something new on the go almost every single day.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Communications & Community Engagement, the core responsibilities of this role include:
- Creating, scheduling, posting and managing community engagement for the Foundation's content on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn. (These channels are shared between the Hospital and Foundation and require a thoughtful, collaborative and flexible approach.)
- Providing communications counsel, support and plans for all departments at St. Joseph's Healthcare Foundation including annual giving, special events and community partnerships, development, finance, and administration
- Working side by side with the Public Affairs Department of St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton to ensure Foundation and Hospital messages are seamlessly aligned and complementary
- Composing compelling stories and articles of varying length and style for Foundation communication vehicles including: internal and external enewsletters, annual reports, publications, websites, advertisements and newspaper supplements/inserts etc.
- Ensuring the Foundation has a regular and engaging presence within internal communications vehicles at the Hospital (Intranet, Internal E-Newsletter, Hospital website etc.)
- Oversee paid social advertising campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, etc.
- Developing storyboards and scripting for Foundation videos and vignettes
- Using Canva, Piktochart and/or Adobe Suite to create graphics to support programs, events and communications campaigns.

Skills Required:
- Diploma/degree in a related communications, marketing or PR discipline
- 35+ years of relevant experience in a similar or notforprofit environment
- Superior writing, spelling, proofreading and editing skills
- The ability to distil complex information into engaging content for the community
- Proficiency with software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Sprout Social, Mail Chimp, WordPress Content Management System (CMS), Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of social media and communications best practices and emerging trends
- Eagerness and enthusiasm for fundraising communications, and a cando attitude
- Superior interpersonal skills and an understanding of the fundraising and/or healthcare industries
