    About the School of Life Science & Business

    The School of Life Science & Business provides dynamic high-tech, hands-on learning opportunities in support of animal health, business and horticulture. The School is also home to the National Meat Training Centre and the Olds College Botanic Gardens. A variety of certificates, diplomas and applied degrees are granted from the School of Life Science & Business. Fields of study offered within the School of Life Science & Business are: Animal Health, Business, Equine, Horticulture, and the National Meat Training Centre.

    The Opportunity - Instructional Assistant, Veterinary Technology, temporary

    The School of Life Science and Business has full-time and part-time temporary/casual opportunities available for Instructional Assistants in its Veterinary Technology Programs. These positions would commence in April 2024.

    Key Job Functions:

    The focus of these positions is to assist and support instructors in the classroom along with hands-on instructional support in a variety of courses in the Veterinary Technology(VT), Veterinary Medical Receptionist(VMR) and the Veterinary Technical Assistant (VTA) programs. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to have a varied background in Veterinary Technology.

    Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • An RVT, with a minimum of 3-years of relevant industry experience is preferred.
  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure, with the ABVTA and registered with the ABVMA.
  • Practical experience should include small animal nursing skills with dogs, cats. Practical experience with large animals such as horses, cattle, and sheep is an asset.
  • Familiar with standard laboratory procedures.
  • Familiar with computer programs, i.e. Google docs, spreadsheets, slides, online learning.
  • In addition, the successful candidate will be flexible and have strong communication, interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
