Job description
:I work full-time as a teacher in an institution. I do TNR at night. For the past ten years, I have used my own earned money, pulling from my retirement.
I wanted to help the town that feeds cats, but can't afford to fix them, and there is only one vet in the entire valley which takes about two to three months to get an appointment.
When they do have clinics for TNR, I am limited to a few cats.My work is stressful, trapping is a labor of love, but nevertheless hard work, and I can't bring just two cats at a time to the Humane Society to get fixed.
We would never get to finish line.We have relied on Mexican Veterinarians to do this which means crossing the border which can take a long time, and in the summer desert (118 degree heat), can be brutal on people, cars, and cats.
I have trapped, spayed, neutered, and fostered 300 cats in the last ten years.I know I should have gotten funding for this some time ago, but the situation was so dire, that I pressed on, but I wasn't finished.
Then, I stopped to get this website functioning, which took some time-over a year. It's easier to trap than to set up a website. The winter months here are the best times to trap because of the heat.In addition to TNR, I have helped families with feeding cats, and have cleaned up their yards so that they pose fewer threats to the cats.
Some families have contributed a little financially, but it is rare, and usually never to cover the cost of an entire operation.
I have paid for ferals to get out of the area to a rescue. I have fostered kittens and cats to be adopted out via Southern Counties Rescue.Contract duration of less than 1 month. with 30 hours per week.
