This position is a valuable member of our accounting team, reporting to the Director of Accounting & Finance the individual will be responsible for the full accounting cycle and managing the process in the accounting department with monthly and year-end reporting.

They will manage special assignments from the executive team and assist in overseeing the department.


Financial Reporting:


  • Assist in the development of our current Administrative Information System and Job Costing System, including modules not currently being utilized.
  • Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is occurring, and that corrective action is taken, as necessary.
  • Assist Project Managers in completing a monthly analysis of major contracts, including an indepth analysis of all variances from the original estimate.
  • Provide assistance to executive team on special assignments including detailed analysis and assessment of information for the purposes of implementing a strategic plan.
  • Assist the Director of Accounting & Finance in the research into better information systems to assist employees in their current functions.
  • Oversee the preparation of yearend audit files.
  • Oversee the preparation of the monthly Financial Statements and monthly reports in accordance with GAAS and GAAP
  • Oversee accounting departments daily operations and assist others in department as needed.

Project Accounting - Major Contracts/ complexity:

  • Contract reconciliation. For example, compare our contact with the certificate of payment or change order issued by the consultant. Reconciliation of the contract total with the consultant's and payments.
  • Subcontract reconciliation & hold back release; review the AR statement provided by subcontractors and compare it to overall costs in Jonas to deal with the discrepancies, change order difference, overbilling etc.
  • Establish and review subcontractors' billing breakdown to match our record, prepare the costs summary (reconcile job costs) with billing requirements for the project as CM agent.
  • Be main point of contact regarding Jonas, Procore and Jonas Documents regarding job costing function; provide information to help PM's report such as EVM.
  • Review Job close out procedure. Review overall final contact and subcontracts.

Required skills include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to provide clear direction and support to the accounting & finance team.
  • CPA accounting designation, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a mid to senior financial role.
  • Strong computer proficiency with advanced skills in MSOffice and accounting software.
  • Indepth understanding of all areas of finance, including job costing, GL integration, payables, payroll, AR, and how the finance department impacts the organization.
  • Indepth understanding of excel, and related formulas and functions.
  • Construction background is considered an asset.
  • Experienced in processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries and reconciliations, via accounting system.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Skilled in organizing work, setting priorities, working independently and efficiently manages competing priorities.
  • Highly organized, efficient, and attentive to details with excellent followup skills
  • Ability to maintain a demanding workload, and ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks, and meet various deadlines with changing priorities, frequent interruptions, and conflicting deadlines.
  • Excellent people skills to interact diplomatically and effectively deal with diverse personalities.
  • Professional demeanor and courteous/helpful manner.
