Description:
Oshki-Giizhig is an Indigenous-based non-profit organization. Our vision is a healthy community built on Indigenous journeys towards wellness. Our mission is to walk beside, advocate, and support people affected by FASD and other disorders.

Strengthened by cultural practices and traditional teachings, support will assist in restoring balance to individuals and the community affected by trauma and violence.

Required Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary degree in social work, social justice, Indigenous studies, health related, and/or a combination of pertinent experiences in these areas.
  • Knowledge of disabilities, disorders, and mental health issues.

Preferred
Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of Community Living Disability Services (CLDS) funding model and guidelines
  • Understanding of Indigenous concepts of care and support
  • This position requires strong attention to detail, a strong ability to track data and figures to monitor for errors and inaccuracies, and an ability to maintain and catalog multiple lists and schedules, and frequent changes and updates
  • Experience leading a team in a dynamic fastpaced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict effectively
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults and their families, providing supports based on the individual needs of the participants
  • Experience conducting assessments with participants and their family members
  • Experience with crisis intervention and protection services
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate or deliver difficult messages or information to clients
  • Effective written communication skills to write clear and concise correspondence to a variety of audiences including detailed reports
  • Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize complex tasks/assignments in a high volume work environment with competing demands
  • Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinating new referrals and intakes submitted to Oshki-Giizhig so that participant services can be established.
  • Representing Oshki-Giizhig and its Vision as the initial point of contact for the agency.
  • Preparing service proposals based on CLDS funding guidelines, as well as collaborating with funders when securing required resources to meet participant needs.
  • Creating correspondence for the agency Director and for government in support of agency initiatives.
  • Providing guidance to staff in the navigation of government processes and protocol when securing resources for participants.
  • Identifying potential areas of service development both internally and throughout the community.
  • Facilitating partnerships and consultation with new participants, families, staff, and other agencies and community partners.
  • Manager a caseload of agency participants, including assessment of participant needs, development of support plans, service coordination, counseling responsibilities, and ongoing evaluation of services.
  • Meet with participants and their families, collaterals, etc. to introduce them to the program. Responsible for maintaining and updating a relevant support plan for each participant and relaying support plan information to staff on a regular basis.
  • Ensure participants have access to health and cultural services, collaborate with other systems or members identified in the support plan, and connect with other resources to meet the needs of the participants.
  • Participate in and often act as lead in a Service Coordination team which can include a wide array of social service and government agencies including but not restricted to those associated with Health, Education, child welfare agencies, private nonprofit agencies, Justice, and Employment and Income Assistance (EIA).
  • Use a personcentered approach to deliver disciplinebased services and intervention strategies with agency participants.
  • Responsible for coordination and delivery of support services including those that ensure delivery of protection services, support services, crisis management and the Substitute Decision Making process as per The Vulnerable Persons Living with a Mental Disability Act.
  • Required to assist with issues caused by domestic violence, trauma, disability, abuse, mental and emotional challenges, loss, addiction, homelessness and family breakdown.

Criminal Record Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check. Driver's Licence and access to transportation.


Wage:
$34.00-$40.00 Hourly
