POSITION PURPOSE


Reporting to the Supervisor, Fleet Logistics and Sign Shop is responsible for assisting in the implementation, support and data evaluation of asset management; delivering reports and analyzing system data to support and improve vehicle reliability and cost efficiency; developing reliability improvement maintenance programs and assessing results; overseeing management of fuel including inventory and reconciliation oversight; and identifying opportunities and monitoring to reduce fuel use and energy consumption on vehicles; oversees and coordinates fleet vehicle outfitting based on service requirements.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the asset management system and software interface.
  • Tests products to ensure expected results and functionality.
  • Works alongside other Region business units and Branches to achieve mutual agreement on product customization in areas affecting all users.
  • Works with internal and external users and consultants and represents Fleet needs, as directed.
  • Establishes, maintains and monitors control processes to ensure operational activities, preventative maintenance scheduling and repairs, fleet maintenance, equipment specifications and purchases, tender preparations, fuel inventories and procedures of the work crew are in compliance with Branch and Department objectives.
  • Completes the annual licensing of the Regional vehicles and ensures compliance with all legislated inspections for review bymanagement.
  • Generates Region fleet and outsource repair garages reliability reports; tracks statistics, analyzes information, looks for trends and makes recommendations on improvement; prepares reports identifying problem areas that are consistently failing and problem vehicles (i.e. vehicles that have experienced repeated failures for the same root cause within a specified period of time).
  • Oversees all aspects of diesel fuel management where diesel fuel is supplied by the Region, including fuel deliveries, dispensing, consumption and bills of lading, for review by management, for Finance and payment/reconciliation of diesel fuel.
  • Provides training and support to Fleet staff on new M5 system, as required.
  • Provides support for the Fleet management system and works with appropriate Regional staff to resolve problems; reviews findings and provides recommendations regarding fleet safety and reliability programs and system reports.
  • Assists and supports the Fleet Repair Services Technician, as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a two (2) year Community College Diploma Program in Civil Engineering Technology or related field, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year demonstrated experience in related fleet management/contract administration practices, including experience extracting, analyzing and reporting technical data and creating and maintaining data files.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check.
  • Knowledge of Fleet Management Software.
  • Knowledge of corporate fleet management principles including asset, business, financial, maintenance, risk, vehicle fuel and fleet information management.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience in writing and reviewing reports, including ability to identify problems, research, analyze and interpret data.
  • Demonstrated experience in fleet management, planning and energy conservation.
  • Working knowledge in utilizing and maintaining an asset management system in fleet and facilities.
  • Knowledge and skills to prepare statistical reports and compile data.
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
