The First Nations Capital & Infrastructure Agency of Saskatchewan (FNCIAS) is a non
- profit, indigenous led organization that has been recently established to take over care and control of funding for on-reserve housing and delivery of Major Capital programs and services from the Government of Canada.


As an integral part of our team, you will help to build a new organization focused on addressing historical chronic underfunding, delivering responsive programs and services to First Nations.

Your role will be to help create an organization focused on removing community barriers to success, and ensure that planning, development, and asset management for on-reserve infrastructure acts as a catalyst for First Nation opportunities and success.


Under the direction of the Accountant, the Finance Coordinator will calculate, prepare and process bills, invoices, accounts payable and receivable, budgets and other financial records according to procedures.


Responsibilities:


  • Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems
  • Provide payroll support, including but not limited to, payroll input, annual reconciliations, benefits and pension tracking and ad hoc payroll functions
  • Input and reconciliation of bank deposits, A/P and A/R activities
  • Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements in a ledger or computer system
  • Compile budget data and documents based on estimated revenues and expenses and previous budgets
  • Prepare period or cost statements or reports
  • Submit and confirm direct deposit file from various banks and void any rejected transactions
  • Void/Trace claims payments
  • Maintain accurate financial records
  • Find and correct inconsistencies and inefficiencies
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • Provide support to the Accountant in terms of month end and annual reports
  • Process and code vendor invoices and staff expense claims
  • Prepare EFT payment batches for approval
  • Assist with month end procedures, revenue reconciliation and accruals process
  • Maintain support files for month end and audit files
  • Assist in the preparation of yearend schedules and audit file
  • Assumes other related responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications
Competencies required include organizational skills, attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to the accuracy and completeness of information. Strong communication skills including excellent written and verbal communication. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to gather, analyze and present information with attention to detail. Sound judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and professional integrity.


Qualifications:


Education


Successful completion of a Post Secondary certificate or diploma in bookkeeping, business administration, or an equivalent combination of skills and two years' experience in a related field.

An equivalent level of experience and education may be considered.


Experience


Demonstrated progression in level of responsibility with a proven ability to be an effective gatekeeper with internal and external stakeholders.

An ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and virtual meeting platforms.


Job Types:
Fixed term contract, Full-time


Salary:
$60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year

  • Saskatoon, SK: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:


  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:


  • Accounting: 1 year (preferred)
