The Sport & Recreation Media Coordinator will perform a range of duties in support of the Athletics and Recreation Department's communication, engagement, and outreach efforts.

This role is responsible for coordinating annual communication and marketing plans, assisting with the day-to-day maintenance and updates of the Condor's Athletic and Recreation Website, social media channels, and other online platforms, as well as supporting varsity game day operations including game sheets, statistical records, scheduling of PT staff, and other media coverage requirements.

In collaboration with the administrative team, the Coordinator will assist in developing and leading a communications strategy that "tells the story of Conestoga Condors" in support of varsity, recreation, health, Esports, and special event programming.


Responsibilities:


Annual Department-wide Communication Plans for the Athletics & Recreation department

  • Coordinates all aspects of Conestoga's athletics website and social media feeds, including the development of high quality content, regular updates, and annual changes
  • Works with the Athletics staff to establish a strong brand identity that supports the development of digital media content and "tells the story of the Conestoga Condors"
  • Interacts with users of the Athletics & Recreation social media channels and provides a voice for the department through timely, professional, and accurate responses to inquiries
  • Engages in regular industry research to determine best practices, trends, and tools
  • Monitors statistics, engagement, insights, and performance and provides reports and subsequent datadriven recommendations; Ensures the use of current technology
  • Leads and provides recommendations in the development of Varsity & Recreation print materials, including special event materials, schedules, posters, and other promotional items
  • Works with the internal department managers and staff to plan and execute areaspecific projects, identify design needs, and ensures project timelines are met
  • Works with the Operations Coordinator to develop communication plans for facility updates, disruptions, events, and activities for recreation centre membership and stakeholders
  • Seeks out opportunities to develop relationships with key college departments
  • Works with the College's Marketing department to identify opportunities for collaboration and to ensure consistency in overall brand guidelines
  • In collaboration with the Student Affairs Office, Web Services, provides support and assistance in online postings and promotion of Student Affair's news and service announcements

Varsity Game Day Media Requirements, Special Projects, & Lead Contact for the Ontario Collegiate Athletic Association (
OCAA)/Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association
(CCAA)

  • Coordinates Parttime (PT) student Support Staff for all varsity games in the areas of live streaming/broadcasting, social media, fan engagement, players of the game, etc.
  • Ensures accurate reporting and collection of complete game information, including game sheets, statistic reports, and game film
  • Serves as the lead contact point for all OCAA/CCAA/other offices for regular sports information requests (i.e., stories, stats, coverage, bios); Participates in OCAA and CCAA committees
  • Satisfies requirements mandated by the OCAA/CCAA
  • Leads the design development of provincial and national tournament bids by creating graphically appealing bid packages
  • Supports the development of championship hosting material, including accreditation, promotional material, tickets, digital content, etc.
  • Composes biographies and human interest stories for students, studentathletes, staff, and coaches
  • Oversees the inventory, distribution, and maintenance of all communication equipment
  • Supports the development and execution of department events, including recognition events, athletic banquets, athlete orientations, and fundraising events
  • Maintains historical records and archives of rosters, schedules, highlights, profiles, etc.
  • With the support of Varsity staff, develops, collects, and maintains alumni records
