The Opportunity


Since 2003, Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS) has been acting as the research arm of Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), one of Canada's top five polytechnics.

Using 50,000 square feet of specialized lab space located at the heart of Calgary and more than 80 research staff, ARIS provides a wide range of research and innovation services to industries in Alberta and across Canada.

The Centre for Innovation and Research in Advanced Manufacturing and Materials (CIRAMM) is ARIS' newest centre dedicated to advanced research in the areas of manufacturing and materials science.

CIRAMM is currently seeking a talented and creative individual with expertise in digital content creation, specifically in video production, to join our team.


As our Digital Content Creator, you will play a crucial role in promoting our work, disseminating knowledge, and enhancing our visibility through engaging visual storytelling.

  • Position: Parttime, 824 hours a week, Location (SAIT's main campus)_

The Role:


  • Produce highquality cinematic videos showcasing the projects, research, and innovations conducted at CIRAMM.
  • Collaborate with researchers, scientists, and other team members to understand their work and translate complex concepts into visually appealing content.
  • Capture cinematic footages using professionalgrade equipment, ensuring high production value and adherence to creative guidelines.
  • Edit videos using industrystandard software, incorporating visual effects, motion graphics, and other elements to enhance the overall quality and impact.
  • Optimize videos for different platforms and channels, ensuring compatibility and maximizing their reach and impact.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop strategies for video distribution and promotion.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in video production and digital content creation to bring fresh and innovative ideas to our projects.
  • Manage and organize the digital assets, including raw footage, edited videos, and related files, in an efficient and easily accessible manner.
  • Ensure compliance with copyright and intellectual property guidelines while sourcing and incorporating external assets into the videos.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Postsecondary degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proven experience in digital content creation, with a focus on video production, editing, and postproduction processes.
  • Proficiency in industrystandard video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
  • Strong technical skills in operating professional video and audio equipment, ensuring optimal quality and capturing the desired shots.
  • A creative mindset with a keen eye for detail, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Solid understanding of different video formats, resolutions, and aspect ratios for various platforms and channels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with a multidisciplinary team.
  • A portfolio of previous work demonstrating proficiency in video production and storytelling will be highly advantageous.
  • Can work independently in a fastpaced environment.
