About Us:


The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment where tomorrow's physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health.

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on campus and employs over 1,800 part time and full time faculty and over 1,500 staff.


Information Services (IS) provides high quality Information Technology and Management services to the School of Medicine & Dentistry in support of the School's mission.


Responsibilities:


Qualifications:


Education:


  • 3 year College Diploma in Computer Science or related field
  • University Degree in Computer Science or related field

Experience:


  • Experience with relational database administration, modeling and support
  • Experience supervising technical staff and projects
  • 3 years of supervisory experience leading teams within a software development context is preferred
  • Experience in a University and/or health care environment preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge and proven ability in software design and development, including proficient code writing
  • Advanced knowledge of modern programming and scripting platforms including Microsoft.
Net, Visual Studio, PHP, C#

  • Relational database administration, modeling and support
  • Knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
  • Experience in systems analysis and design, including business requirements gathering
  • Knowledge of database analysis and design
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Critical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for improvement and an ability to offer creative solutions
  • Knowledge of project/product management methodologies and project/product life cycles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information of a highly technical or complex nature to nontechnical audience
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to understand and translate customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service directly and indirectly to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving ability with experience in overseeing the direction, development and implementation of software products
  • Selfdriven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills to enable team members to achieve highquality outcomes
  • Ability to handle diverse situations, multiple and complex projects and rapidly changing priorities
  • Strong problem solving skills including experience formulating and executing action plans, and ability to work well in an environment of ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
