About the work environment:

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday with flexibility around start & end times. Peoples Group's Clearing and Reconciliations team operates in a 24x7x365 environment.

The role may require shift work; to work on Canadian holidays; and to provide coverage for support activities such as but not limited to testing on weekends or non-traditional business hours.


About you:


You are a Business Systems Analyst with demonstrable experience in a similar role at a bank, a clearing central, or a payments card scheme.

You understand the needs of a Payments Operations team and various platforms.

You have a love for navigating complex data, facilitating change through understanding business needs, defining requirements, recommending solutions, and understanding the integration as well as delivery requirements.

Attention to detail comes naturally to you to create test scripts and undertake QA/UAT testing. You can take initiative and are motivated to go out and find answers for yourself. You enjoy thinking outside the box and leveraging technology to solve problems. You enjoy participating in the delivery of system requirements and enhancements that align with the organization's standards and frameworks.

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills to act as a conduit between our payments business units, IT department, or external partners.

You are hands-on and are willing to support various operational processes.


About you / qualifications:


  • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst within a Banking, Treasury, Payments, Settlement, Reconciliation, or related function with strong knowledge of Payment processes and systems.
  • You possess strong operational and IT knowledge coupled with a sound understanding of payments infrastructure.
  • You can understand complex processes and can communicate as well as document them in easytounderstand process flows, requirement documents, and procedures.
  • You can translate business outcomes into functional and nonfunctional requirements.
  • You are curious by nature, are comfortable challenging the status quo, and can shift gears up and down in a fastpaced environment.
  • You are an advocate for using technology to remove process barriers.
  • You are comfortable in project life cycles that leverage both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • You have expertise with MS Office suite, Visio, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, and workflows.
  • Your experience in quality assurance, data integrity, process improvement, prototyping, and transition planning will set you up for success in this role.
  • You have a postsecondary degree in IT, Business, or a related field.

About the day-to-day:


  • Plan, prioritize, and complete business systems analysis activities for either waterfall or agile projects.
  • Translate needs into business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Drive both business and systems requirements through discovery, analysis, and validation.
  • Take the lead on client integrations into the Clearing and Reconciliations platforms, support projects, and various initiatives as the SME for Peoples Trust's payment processing platform.
  • Actively attain SMElevel knowledge and understanding of business processes and flows via indepth analysis of workflows, standard operating procedures, and Payments Canada's (and other relevant) rules and standards.
  • Provide coverage for the operations team by undertaking paymentsrelated activities as assigned.
  • Provide input into project planning, sprint planning, sprint review, grooming or product backlog review, and retrospectives.
  • Undertake datadriven tactical and strategic analysis and think outside the box to identify and recommend opportunities to improve operational workflows through technology.
  • Take ownership of research to identify the most feasible and effective solution.
  • Identify the appropriate tools and techniques to resolve business and operational challenges and provide actionable recommendations.
