Summary


Under the authority of ESI's OHS Director, the incumbent participates, together with the rest of the OHS team, in efforts to achieve ESI's Occupational Health & Safety vision.

He or she will therefore be given mandates to make ESI a world-class company in terms of OHS management.


Responsibilities

  • Acts as an advisor to all ESI managers/employees;
  • Knows how to easily navigate the laws and regulations related to the OHS of the different jurisdictions;
  • Investigates and analyzes accidents at work, nearmisses, incidents and dangerous situations and issues recommendations;
  • Carries out OHS audits and security visits to different sites, issues a written report including recommendations and corrective actions to be implemented with a followup system;
  • Performs risk analyses and updates;
  • Participates in the preparation of the OHS information capsules;
  • Prepares materials to help managers successfully conduct their OHS meetings;
  • Collaborates in the preparation of OHS statistical results;
  • Participates and collaborates with government bodies, during inspections, investigations, visits, meetings, surveys, training, and other types of interventions;
  • Ensures the formation and maintenance of the various OHS committees;
  • Participates in regular reviews of the OHS prevention program;
  • Coordinates OHS interventions;
  • Ensures that the OHS onboarding is provided in the most effective way to all new employees, with explanations of the prevention program, ESI's OHS rules, etc.;
  • Follows up to ensure that all mandatory OHS training is completed on time and place depending on the type of work assigned to the employee (initial training and refreshment);
  • Ensures to support all supervisors so that employees have all the necessary PPE in the most efficient way possible;
  • Participates in the qualification of ESI to certain organizations as requested by customers: ex. qualification to IS Networld, Contractor check, etc.;
  • Performs all other related tasks in connection with his/her duties.

Requirements:


  • Authorized to work in Canada;
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a similar position;
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, and Environment or any equivalent work experience or training;
  • Fluency in French and English in verbal and written communications;
  • Proficiency in MS Office software;
  • Able to pass a security check at the required level for access to secured sites;
  • Ready and able to move on the different sites. ESI's activities are spread over forty sites that are mainly located in the greater Montreal area;
  • An asset: experience in a construction and/or customer service environment; have an ASP construction card; have experience in a unionized environment.
